Dear Teachers
by: Maine Lasar
I. Dear teachers, did you ever regret being one?
Did you ever feel that you’re no fun?
Do your students make you feel violated?
And do they treat you like an air that is polluted?
II. Do you ever shout them 'coz they’re so noisy?
But at the end of the day you’ll regret it, maybe?
Do they treat your subjects as if it’s nothing?
When you tell them something violent reaction’s coming?
III. Dear teachers, are you tired of being one?
Pls., don’t be for the sake of your students, Sirs and Ma'ams,
Maybe some students don’t know your worth.
But just continue going and prove some sort.
IV. We’ve been so numb and also dumb,
But without you teachers, we’ll surely sob,
Just bear with us some extra patience,
'Coz without you teachers we’ll have no sense.
V. Dear teachers, are you proud of being one?
You should be ‘coz you are molding someone,
You’ve been part of your students’ lives,
And that’s one thing we couldn’t hide.
VI. Dear teachers, did we ever thank you for a very good job?
Did we ever let you feel that you are being loved?
If not, we need to sober and we’ll do it together.
We thank and love you and it’s now or never.
Such a heartfelt poem for our beloved teachers. Although, I held grudges to some of my former teachers, I acknowledge that this is not an easy job. A perfect poem to send on a teacher's day.
